Yesterday was an eventful day at one of our projects in North Vancouver. The project is a high-end kitchen and living space reno that will see an outdated galley kitchen transformed into a big, open concept space, well-integrated with the adjacent vaulted rooms. In order to remove several walls and continue to support the roof above, we needed to integrate a metal beam into the new ceiling/wall structures. The 19.5 ft., 100 lbs. steel beam was custom manufactured at Main Street Sheet Metal. It took two forklifts to lower in onto our truck and eight guys to maneuver the beam into place. Apparently, everyone had a blast.

In addition to the Big Metal Beam (that will actually be hidden from view), the final project will include some really great features such as Eclipse exterior folding doors, a stainless steel backsplash, wood floors and custom Green City Cabinets.

The fine folks at Main St. Sheet Metal loading the Big Metal Beam onto the truck for transport to North Van,

Here is a view of the design we created for the reno. Adios cramped galley!
